Welcome to the Chien Hong School of Kung Fu training facility. We are excited to offer a larger, more efficient martial arts school. Because of our change in location and layout, we would like to implement some new policies and rules (the policies and rules listed in the school manual are still in effect).
Lobby/Main Training Floor
We now have a larger lobby that is separate from the training area. You are welcome to sit in the lobby while your children train, or you may leave them with us during their training session. If your child has siblings (non-students), please do not leave them unattended and unsupervised in the lobby area. We also ask that the noise level during class be kept down for the student’s concentration during their lesson. All cell phones must be on silent during classes! This is for the students safety.
Drop-Off/Pick-Up
For some of the reasons stated above, we ask parents to adhere to the following drop-off/pick-up procedure. Students should be dropped off for class no earlier than 1/2 hour before their scheduled class, and picked up no later than 10-15 minutes after their last scheduled class. In the time before class starts the students are allowed to read quietly, got to the practice…to practice (no horse-play permitted on the practice floor), students my also do homework. Electronic games should not be played by students, before and during break time, who are here for kung fu training.
[We are very proud of our school, please help keep it beautiful by remembering to clean up after yourselves in the lobby; anything you bring in, take it with you, or throw it away before you leave. Always show courtesy and respect for your wuguan. ]Main Training Floor
Horse-play and goofing around between classes is not allowed. Students have plenty of space to practice kung fu or stretch quietly between classes. Do not bring food or snacks onto the main training floor. No chewing gum in the wuguan.
Personal Belongings
We have lockers for shoes, purses, book bags, etc… When you come to class, please make sure your bags, shoes, jackets are stowed away. If there is any chance someone could trip over your bags or belongings, it should be moved out of the way, preferably against the wall or in the lockers. Always think first of courtesy, respect and safety.
The Shao-Lin Salute
part of the kung fu training tradition is showing respect for your wuguan, instructors, seniors, and fellow students by saluting them. One of the most frequently asked questions has been, “when/where do I salute?” always salute when you enter and leave the wuguan and its training floor, always salute when you see shifu or your shixong/shijie. This show of respect is very important; and enhances you, the student, as much as the person to whom you are showing respect.
Late Arrivals
If you arrive 1o minutes or less, wait at the lobby/training area line to be brought in to the class, as to not disrupt the lesson in progress. The instructor will readjust the lines in senior/junior order when a moment presents itself. If you are more than 10 minutes late, you will be asked to join the students in the 2nd half of class.
Office
The room off the lobby and main training floor is shifu mitchell’s office. If you need to speak with him, please knock on the door and wait to be admitted, as he may be in a private meeting or on a business call.
Late Tuition
We urge you to be prompt in paying tuition for classes. We pride ourselves in keeping the billing process “in house”, this allows us to keep fees at a lower rate. Part of the courtesy and respect you show the wuguan is staying current on your tuition. The spirit and tenacity of our students lift up the school and make it soar, but it is the tuition, paid on time, that keeps the lights, ac and heating on, the rent paid, the same as any other business.
Note
We appreciate your understanding in these matters and your cooperation in making these policies hold to their purpose. We also appreciate your support and dedication in making the chien hong school of kung fu a success for you and for future students. We opened 5 august 1995, and take pride in bringing tradition and culture to our students through the practice of chien hong kung fu!!
